Mrs. Mary Helen Burnsed Allen, 86, of Denton, TX passed away on Monday March 16, 2015. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and a faithful servant of the Christian faith. She was an incredible homemaker and supporter for her family and created a feeling of comfort for all that entered her home. She was born January 6, 1929 in Honey Grove, TX to Robert Lee and Evelyn Burnsed. Upon graduating from Honey Grove high school, she attended nursing school at Paris Junior College in Paris, TX. She met her deceased husband, Billy Eugene "Chick" Allen in Dallas and they wed in Little Elm, TX on September 2, 1949. The happy couple made their home in Denton, TX where she was employed by both TWU and UNT while raising four children. Mary and her husband raised their children on Panhandle Street in Denton, TX and spent their final years at Willowbend Assisted Living in Denton, TX.
Mrs. Allen in survived by her son, Sam Allen and wife Angela of Randolph, TX; daughter,
Deborah Wirtz and husband Mark of Denton, TX; daughter, Marlene Allen and husband Drennon, Jr. of El Lago, TX; daughter, Rebecca French and husband Rick of Denton, TX; brother, Billy Wayne Burnsed and wife Martha of Honey Grove, TX; and sister-in-law Gayle O'Bryant of Denton TX. Mary was a devoted grandmother of six granddaughters, Rachel Durham, Natalie Braley, Deserea Paisley, Gretchen Schroeder, Haley Harrington, and Molly French. She was also a proud great grandmother of Michael and Morgan Durham, Gabriel Braley, Rory and Lincoln Harrington, and Garret Paisley.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 19th at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home located at 705 N. Locust, Denton TX from 6pm-8pm. Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 20th at 11:00am in the Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church located at 1100 Malone St. Denton, TX.
