IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martin Keven
Mcwilliams
December 7, 1962 – December 1, 2022
Martin Keven McWilliams passed away at home in Oak Point, TX, from an unexpected cardiac event on December 1, 2022. He was 59.
Marty was born on December 7, 1962, in Long Beach, CA, to James & Bonnie McWilliams. Marty was blessed to be born into a family with two sisters, Laura, born 1960, and Dana, born 1961. The McWilliams lived in Garden Grove, CA, until 1977 when the family moved to Eagle, ID.
As a boy and teenager, sports were a big part of Marty's life. He was the catcher for the Meridian High School baseball team, was a source to be reckoned with on the soccer field and played football. From a young age he enjoyed time on the golf course and watching basically any sporting event. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1981.
Marty's life changed forever New Year's Eve of 1987 when he met the love of his life, Sheila Parks, at a New Year's celebration in downtown Boise, ID. Sheila and Marty married in Boise on September 8, 1990. They began a beautiful life together, sharing many interests and values and a deep love for one another. From the very first, family was a priority, and February 20, 1991, the couple began that dream and journey together when Justin was born. Megan completed their family when she arrived July 2, 1994.
In 1996, the young family moved to Texas for Marty's career in the road construction grinding and grooving industry. He excelled in this industry, becoming highly knowledgeable in all aspects of his career. His peers will agree his passion for the industry and dedication to his projects was unmatched. The reality of this industry demanded he spend much of each year traveling, working away from his family.
When Marty was home, his focus was on his family, enjoying time with them, completely dedicated to doing whatever someone wanted or needed. He never missed a sporting event for Justin or Megan. The kids could always hear him on the sideline or in the stands, encouraging them—their biggest fan and most passionate supporter.
Over the years, the McWilliams moved a few more times, always to better Marty's career, several times returning to Texas. In 2020, Sheila and Marty were once again living in Texas when the next phase of their family dream came true when Megan and husband, Addison, welcomed Crew William Queen into the world on September 21. Marty took to being a papa with absolute dedication.
July 2022, Marty hung up his hard hat and retired. Instead of managing massive construction projects, he took long walks and spent as much time with his best buddy Crew as he could, relishing the luxury of spending all of his time with Sheila, Megan and her family, and Justin and his fiancé, Alex. His wife, children, and grandson were his reason and purpose, his loves. He was unabashedly proud of his children and their accomplishments. His family counts these months as a blessing: his constant company and undivided attention!
For Marty's family, the truth that the hardest good-byes are the ones you don't see coming has become the fact of life. This sudden hole in their collective lives and heart was something impossible to plan for or even imagine. As a father and husband, Marty was always the voice of reason, the person who saw the big picture and offered sound, loving advice. He was the one consulted for decisions large and small.
Marty is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sheila McWilliams of Oak Point, TX; son, Justin (fiancé, Alex Johnson) of Krum, TX; daughter, Megan (spouse, Addison Queen) and grandson, Crew William, all of Aubrey, TX and his best fur buddy, Mac.
Marty is also survived by; his mother, Bonnie Raynor (Rick) of Winchester Bay, OR; sisters, Laura Gulley of Coeur d'Alene, ID, and Dana McCracken (Dennis) of Eagle, ID; nieces, Crystal Beck (Ryan) of Sagle, ID; Courtney Walters (Wilson) of Eagle, ID; nephews, Jason Lobato and Connor McCracken (Nancy), both of Eagle, ID; great nieces and nephews, McKenna, Ava, Gretta, Charlotte, Hallie, Liam, Nolan, and Peter.
Marty has joined in Heaven his father, James McWilliams; grandparents, Russell & Helen McWilliams and Carroll & Ileen Butler; aunt and uncle, Clay & Maggie Hogue; niece, Cassie McCracken, and mother and father-in-law Jerry & Barbara Parks.
