Mark Steven
Magnino
Dec 29, 1954 — Jun 27, 2026
Madill, Oklahoma
Mark Steven Magnino, age 71, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away on June 27, 2026. Born on December 29, 1954, Mark lived a life defined by hard work, ingenuity, craftsmanship, and devotion to those he loved.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Toney and Lorena Magnino, and his brother, Phillip Magnino. He is survived by his sister, Terri Cope; his son, Clay Magnino; daughter-in-law, Sarah Magnino; and his beloved grandchildren, Claire and Owen Magnino, who brought him immeasurable joy. Known simply as "Papa" to Claire and Owen, he treasured every moment spent with them.
In 1982, Mark married Peggy Butler, and together they welcomed their son, Clay, who would always be one of the greatest sources of pride in his life. Although they later divorced in 1998, they shared a lasting commitment to their son's happiness and success.
As a younger man, Mark enjoyed circle-track motorcycle racing and riding dirt bikes. Some of Clay's fondest memories are of Sunday mornings spent loading dirt bikes into the truck and exploring the trails of North Texas. Those adventures created a lifelong bond of friendship and mentorship.
Mark began his working life as a mechanic, machinist, and fabricator, developing the skills that became the foundation of his success. He went on to own and operate Acro Machine, where he specialized in building and repairing custom experimental aircraft, including aerobatic airplanes designed for airshows. He later built a distinguished career as a Quality Engineer with Southwest Airlines, earning the respect of colleagues through his technical expertise, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Aviation was more than a career for Mark; it was a lifelong passion.
He also enjoyed working on motorcycles and automobiles, taking great pride in the quality of his workmanship. Whether restoring a classic vehicle, fabricating a custom part, or designing something new, he approached every project with patience, precision, and integrity. He had a remarkable ability to understand how things worked and an extraordinary talent for building, repairing, and creating. His dedication to craftsmanship earned him the admiration of all who knew him.
Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, Mark's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he cultivated, the lessons he shared, and the values he passed on to future generations. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As his family likes to say, "If Papa can't fix it, no one can."
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Mark the way he lived: by making something with your hands. Find a grandchild, a niece or nephew, or a young neighbor, and build something new together. Show them how to measure, how to use the tools, and how good it feels to make something that lasts.
Service arrangements are pending and will be shared soon. To receive details, or to share a memory, a photo of something you built in his honor, or a note to the family, please email memoryof.markmagnino@gmail.com
