IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie Kay
Johnson
February 24, 1948 – January 3, 2025
Marjorie Kay Malone Johnson, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away on January 3, 2025, the day that would have been her mother's 99th birthday. Her family is saddened to share this news but is grateful to know she is made whole again in heaven. Born on February 24, 1948, in Pomona, California, to AD Jack Malone and Ruby Jean Malone, Kay's life was a testament to kindness and compassion.
After moving to West Texas as an infant, then later to Wheatland, New Mexico, Kay graduated from San Jon High School and earned her associate degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to helping others, whether through her various careers or acts of kindness within her community. Kay retired from the University of North Texas in 2020.
Kay cherished spending time with her family. One of her favorite things was cheering on the University of North Texas sports teams. She enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus Christ with all she met as evidenced by the outpouring of love on her and her family during these hard times from all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted, caretaker husband, Jeff Johnson; her daughters, Konni Stubblefield of Denton, Texas, Stacy Winsett (Jared) of McGraw, New York, and Jennifer Howard (Nathan) of Farmers Branch, Texas; her grandchildren, Kayley Crump (Jonas), Raegan Stubblefield, Cameron Johnson (Paris), Andie Pace, and Christopher Romero; her great-grandson, Atlas Crump; and her siblings, Dawayne Malone (Paula), Gary Malone (Karla), and Mary Ann Scott.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jayn, and her daughter Katie Jo.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Southmont Baptist Church in Denton. To honor Kay, please feel free to wear jeans and "Mean Green" attire (the colors of the University of North Texas).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital at stjude.org or Athletes in Action Ministry to help athletes be leaders for Jesus on their teams at: give.cru.org/1089330
