Obituary

Marjorie Lee Young Durham, 91, of Denton, went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 4, 2015. She was a loving and cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother. All who knew her admired her strength, courage, kindness and gentle spirit.
Ms. Durham was born on November 1st 1923 to Earl and Elizabeth Barr. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Denton, Texas. Ms. Durham moved to Washington, DC to begin her career as a typist for the Justice Department during World War II. This is where she met her husband, Sherman Jones Young. They married on August 17th, 1945 and began raising their family.
Marjorie Durham returned to the work force after her husband contracted the poliovirus, resulting in him being a quadriplegic. She raised their four children, worked and cared for her husband for sixteen years with the help of family, the church community and friends until Sherman Young's death in 1972.
Ms. Durham married Cecil Durham in 1976. With this, she gained three daughters and nine grandchildren. Ms. Durham delighted in her wonderful combined family! Cecil Durham passed away in 1994.
During her final moments on earth, Donnie and Gina Autry cared for Ms. Durham as if she was family. The Young and Durham families cannot express their depth of gratitude for the wonderful home and care provided to their mother during this time.
Survivors include her children: William Young of Forney, Howard Young of Justin, Cynthia Keller of Nocona and Ronald Young of Atlanta; Her stepdaughters: Karen Blake of Denton and Elise Spain of Plano; and her sisters: Janel Kaiser of Houston and Janet Crews of North Richland Hills. Marjorie Durham will also be greatly missed by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marjorie Durham was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Elizabeth Barr; her husbands: Sherman Young and Cecil Durham; her brothers: Roy Barr and Clifton Barr and her stepdaughter, Lynelle Woods.
Family visitation is on Thursday, August 6th from 6PM to 8PM and services will be held at 10AM on Friday, August 7th at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Denton, TX.
