Marilyn Jane Slight, 84, of Denton, formerly of Houston, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, August 30, 2015 at The Vintage in Denton.
Mrs. Slight was born on February 2, 1931 in Tonkawa, OK to Robert E. "Bob" and Ellen (Weimer) Harness. She was married to William D. "Bill" Slight on September 2, 1954 in Tonkawa, OK. She spent twenty years working for the Gulf Coast Chapter of the United Way until her retirement in 1996 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Denton.
She is survived by her sons, William "Bill" Slight and wife Cheryl, of Denton, Thomas "Jake" Slight and wife Jennifer of Houston; grandchildren, Ellen Slight, Emma Slight, Madeline Slight, Jacob Slight; step grandchildren, Stephanie Miller and Garrett Miller along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Robert E, Harness, Jr and his wife Clara.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St., Denton. Dr. Jeff Williams will officiate the service. Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston.
