Street, Denton, Texas.
Marilyn was born on February 15, 1932 in Aubrey, Texas. Her parents were
the late Walter A. Warschun and Clara Louise (Trietsch) Warschun. She married Jeff
B. Lilley Jr. in Denton, Texas on November 1, 1958. They remained married until his
death on June 13, 2005.
A graduate of Sanger High School, Marilyn attended North Texas State
University, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting with the class of 1953. Upon
graduation Marilyn worked as an accountant for the Eastman Kodak Company in
Dallas, Texas.
Soon after marrying Jeff, Marilyn transitioned away from the accounting field
in order to devote herself wholly to her family. Marilyn and Jeff were blessed with
three children. Marilyn inherited the skills and talents of a true homemaker from her
own beloved mother. Her husband's career had the family moving every two years,
and Marilyn would immediately sew and hang new curtains every time they moved
into a new house. She believed that the first priority was always to make a house a
true home for her family. There was never a shirt left unironed or a pencil
unsharpened on her desk. Always the accountant, Marilyn kept the family finances
balanced down to the penny and genuinely looked forward to tax time each year.
Her Sunday roast dinners were a favorite of both her immediate family and her
church community. Jeff and Marilyn moved to Hurst, Texas in 1971, where they
made their final home together. For thirty-five years Marilyn was a member of North
Richland Hills Baptist Church (Now Cross Church North Richland Hills) serving her
community as a Sunday School teacher and a member of numerous committees.
Well into her 70s, she continued to make her 'Amish Friendship Bread' every week
for her Sunday school class of more than 50 people. After the loss of her sweetheart,
Marilyn relocated back to her family farm in Aubrey to be closer to her children and
grandchildren. She will be remembered for her unyielding faithfulness to the Lord
and the example she set for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, LaNise Heath of Krugerville; daughter Nancy
Knapp and husband Commander James R. of Krugerville; son J. Bryan Lilley and wife
Olivia of Aubrey; grandchildren Brittany Harper, Katelyn Parkman and Samuel Heath;
Will, Ryan and Lauren Knapp; Jeff Bryan Lilley II and Parker Louise Lilley; two great
grandchildren; brother Walter N. Warschun of Aubrey, and numerous nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers or other memorials that donations
be made in Marilyn's name to the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
