MARIE B. HEALEY
We have lost a very dear and special lady. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 am in Cole Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Denton with Rev. Lisa Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery at 1 pm in Waxahachie, for Marie B. Healey ,96 who passed away with grace, courage, dignity and compassion just like she lived her life.

Born in Waxahachie, Texas on January 14, 1914 to William Edward Briant and Pearl Harp Briant she graduated from Cicso High School in 1931. After Graduation she attended Texas Womens University and received a B.S. degree in 1935 and later a Masters Degree. She taught Home Economics in Bronte, Sweetwater and San Angelo. In 1941 she joined the Texas Education Agency as a Consultant until she retired in 1983.

She married Dr. Gordon D. Healey in 1952.

Mrs. Healey was a member of the First United Methodist Church, active in Sunday School, a Member of the United Methodist Women, Women's Shakespeare Club, Denton Area Retired Teachers, Altrusa International, America's Associations of University Women and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by one niece, Mary Helen Campa of Waxahachie; grandnephews James Todd Campa of League City and David Courtney Campa of Waxahachie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Gordon D. Healey on March 19, 2004. He was History Professor at North Texas State University now University of North Texas. She is also preceded by father, mother and three sisters. She leaves behind many friends.

Mrs. Healey's wish was in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Denton or to charities of your choice.
