Margaret MacKillop, 84, of Denton, died Sunday August 13, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.
Mrs. MacKillop was born December 12, 1921 in Fairmont, WV to Walter Kenneth and Margaret (Millar) Barnes. She attended school at Florida State University. She served in the U. S. Navy, during World War II, as a Wave. She was a Volunteer in the First Navy Wave Unit in 1942 and was photographed for recruitment Posters. She was married to Victor J. MacKillop on August 1, 1952 in Dade City, FL (he died in Dec. 1979). She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton. She was a member of the Tampa Bay Waves Unit #55 in Tampa, Fla. She was the Secretary to the Principal at King High School in Tampa, Fla. for thirty-five years, and was also a Florist.
A funeral service will be held at10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 17, 2006 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak St . Denton, TX. Rev. Stephen Plunkett will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. Interment will be at the Dade City Cemetery, Dade City, FL. At 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2006.
Survivors include her son, Walter MacKillop of Sanger, TX; and a daughter, Elizabeth Blackwood, of Nashville, TN. nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
