Obituary

Margaret Russell Hamilton Murph was welcomed to her heavenly home on Monday, January 22, 2007, after a brief illness with pneumonia. Having just celebrated her 90th birthday, she is lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Margaret was born January 12, 1917, in Comanche, Texas, to Richard Washington Hogan Hamilton and Clara May Russell Hamilton. One of five children, she was raised in a loving, Christian home and came to love the Lord at an early age.
She attended Tarleton Junior College and Baylor University before earning a bachelor's degree in music/elementary education from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. A musician skilled in piano, violin and organ, Margaret was an elementary school teacher for many years. She was a skilled artist who loved painting. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time with family and friends at her lake house in Grapeland, Texas, and especially enjoyed her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life she lived in various locations throughout west, south and east Texas, eventually settling at Renaissance Village retirement community in Lewisville during her later years where she had many friends and played the organ for the community's Sunday church services.
Several years ago she wrote her memoirs at the urging of her family and she closed by writing \"…besides being blessed with wonderful children, their spouses and children, I had the privilege to see much of the world and the wonders of God's creation-my cup surely runneth over!\" Those same words are also the perfect way to sum up her earthly life which was beautifully and lovingly lived.
Preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Harold Murph, and her son-in-law, James Dewey Scales, Margaret is survived by her daughter, Anne Murph Scales, of Lewisville; son, John Harold Murph and wife, Linda, of Houston; sister, Alice Cowen, of Beeville; brother-in-law, Les Tye, of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Erma Hamilton of Big Spring; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at First Christian Church of Lewisville at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25. A burial will follow on Friday, January 26, 1:00 p.m., at Ebenezer Cemetery in Arp, Texas.
