Maggie Suetta Boles (Susie) Cockburn was born September 28, 1909 in Tillman County, Oklahoma, daughter of Stephen Lafayette Boles and wife Mary Melinda Cooper Boles. She died December 3, 2009 at Good Samaritan – Denton Village at the age of 100.
She had two older half-sisters from her mother's first marriage -Lula and Nellie Wilson. Her siblings were Albert Leroy (Roy), Lloyd Thomas (Tom), Bertha Lee (Bert) and Catherine Melvina. All of her brothers and sisters are deceased. She has 16 nieces and nephews.
. She married Roy P. Hervey, December 31, 1934, in Abilene, Texas. They had a daughter, Hollace Lynne Hervey, who survives her. They divorced in 1939.
In 1946 she married Barney Cockburn in Albuquerque, New Mexico and later settled in Artesia, New Mexico. Her husband died in 1958. In 1998 she came to Denton to recover from a broken wrist and hip and never returned to Artesia.
Her greatest pleasure was researching her family history and she spent a great deal of time in Greene County, Tennessee, where her parents were born. She met and kept in contact with many cousins still living there.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon December 6 at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia New Mexico. In lieu of flowers please send donation to a charity or buy a genealogy book for the library.
