Dr. Mack D. Vaughan, Jr., 87, of Denton, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1920, in Clarksville, TX, to Mack D. (Pop) Sr. and Arietta (Sammie) Hart Vaughan. He was married to Marjorie Lee on July 5, 1950, in Arkadelphia, AR. He is a Professor Emeritus at the University of North Texas Art Department in Advertising Design, beginning in 1965 and retiring in about 1989, and had Art Shows in Painting and Photography. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Denton Country Club, and the Faculty Gourmet Club of the University of North Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church, 210 S. Locust, Denton, with Rev. Lisa Marshall officiating. His cremains will be placed in the Columbarium at the Church. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, for visitation from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Friday, June 20, 2008. Memorials may be made to Dr. Mack Vaughan Scholarship In Communication Design, UNT Foundation, P.O. Dr. Vaughan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Vaughan of Denton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Roy E. Busby of Krugerville, Evelyn and John Welle of Hurst; a brother, James W. (Buddy) Vaughan of Clarksville, and four grandchildren, Becky Bumpers, Amanda Busby, Travis Busby, and Derek Welle, and two great grandchildren, Raymond and Bryan Bumpers, two nieces and two nephews.
