M. E. (Marshall Evans) Payne, Jr. 87 of Denton, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at the Vintage. He was born March 6, 1918 in Denton to Marshall Evans and Lillie (Steenbergen) Payne. He was married to Mary L. Jones, on Sept. 4, 1961 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a Self Employed Realtor and Land Speculator.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, July 29, 2005 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Buddy Owens, officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton. Pallbearers will be Kim Payne, Roland Payne, Joe Wolfolk, Brian Hicks, Tyson Brockett, and Blanton Payne.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife Mary Jones Payne of Denton, a daughter, Judy Berry, of Colleyville, and three grandchildren, and four Great Grandchildren.
