Lucy Myrtle Benn, daughter of Chester H. Benn and Annie Brewer Benn, sister of Roy Benn, Opal Stockton, Hampton Murphy, and J. Wilson Benn, passed on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the age of 97. Myrtle was born August 30, 1909, at Rush Springs, OK, the second of five children, all predeceasing her. Myrtle graduated from Sulphur High School in 1927. She worked in a defense plant in Houston, TX, during WWII. She was bookkeeper at Monarch Sales in Oklahoma City until 1980, when she retired at age 71. She lived in Oklahoma City approximately 40 years. In 1993, she moved to the Dallas, TX, area with her sister, Opal Stockton. She was currently living at Atria Flower Mound, TX, Assisted Living Community, in the care of her nephew, Jim F. Murphy, until his death, April, 2006. Myrtle is survived by

Johnson of Oklahoma City; Phyllis Murphy of Coppell, TX; Steve and Lily Murphy of Farmers Branch, TX; Todd and Sally Murphy of Austin, TX; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Oklahoma.
