Loy L. Cavett, 60, of Denton, Texas passed away Monday, January 5, 2009. He was born November 1, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma to Dale and Alta Waldhyne Cavett. He graduated from Mustang High School in Mustang, Oklahoma in 1967 and graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma in December 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Loy joined the U.S. Marines Corps and honorably served 3 years of active duty, followed by 3 years of inactive duty. On May 20, 1972 he married Barbara Ann Payne. Loy left the Marine Corps as a Captain, and he and Barbara moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to raise a family. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville after 28 years of employment. Loy earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1996. He and Barbara moved to Denton, Texas in 2005 to be closer to family.
Loy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Barbara of Denton; his brother, Kirby and wife Debbie of Des Moines, Iowa; his children Chris and wife Sonja of Greenville, TX and Shana and husband Matthew Krakowiecki of Denver, Colorado; and his three grandchildren Andrew Cavett, Elizabeth Cavett and Kate Krakowiecki. Loy served the Lord steadfastly and was a faithful witness until called home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the Robson Ranch Clubhouse with Dr. Ben Husted officiating. In li3u of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Loy's memory to Mayo Clinic, MSA Disease Research, 200 1 st. Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
