Lorene Underwood Lewis, was born to Charles Russell and Sallie Ann (Shurbet) Underwood in McKinney, Texas, September 30, 1919. A beloved wife and Mother, she passed away in Denton, Texas on December 27, 2007. Lorene married Harvey Lewis in Wise County, Texas on July 12, 1942. They celebrated their 65 TH wedding anniversary this past Summer.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and seamstress. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Denton, Oaks Garden Club, and the Carpenter's Auxiliary. Throughout her life, she demonstrated her Christian faith through acts of kindness and compassion to others. She will be remembered by her family and all who knew her for her spirit of joy and sweet smile.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband Harvey Lewis of Denton, Don & Doris Lewis, of Fayetteville, Ark. David & Ann Lewis of Carrollton, and Julie & Steve Speck of Denton and one sister, Floy Edna Park, of Golden, CO. She was preceded in death by another son, Ken Lewis. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 31, 2007 in the Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St. Denton, with Rev. Rick Ingle, officiating, Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Krum. The family will be at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 4:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. for visitation. The family would like to thank the Staff at Morrison Assisted Living Center, Denton Good Samaritan Village for their tender loving care. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
