IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Hutchinson
Epting
January 5, 1930 – May 31, 2023
Lois Hutchinson Epting was born on January 5, 1930 to Lawrence and Rose Hutchinson. She went to her heavenly home on May 31, 2023.
Lois' early years were spent in Illinois Bend, Texas. Her family moved to Gainesville, Texas where she graduated from Gainesville High School. She always looked forward to the home coming reunions with family and friends at Illinois Bend at the end of September every year.
On January 14, 1949, Lois married Tom Mitchell Epting and they were married for 52 years until his passing in September of 2001. Lois and Tom lived in Gainesville and then moved to Denton, Texas where they raised 7 children together. Their home was always open and had a number of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and family friends that lived with them as the need arose.
Lois was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was her treasure. She would often say, "I don't care if I have anything as long as I have my family." She was known for preparing her big family meals, especially on Sunday afternoons. Her meals were always accompanied with rolls and sweet tea. Her pot roast, fried chicken and potatoes were always a big hit and she never turned anyone away.
She and Tom were members of Denton Baptist Temple and Cooper Creek Baptist where they devoted their hearts, time and efforts into the children's ministries. She had a very big heart for children and it showed in her service through the church.
A few years after Tom's passing in 2001, Lois moved into an apartment in Denton where she lived on her own until 2021 when she moved into a care facility. Lois' last few months were in a home care facility that made her feel at home and special. She passed peacefully.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her son David Cox, her daughter Jackie Epting and granddaughter Jayme Davis. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Epting of Gainesville, Texas, Tim Epting and wife Vicki of Denton, Texas, Don Epting and wife Kim of Saint Jo, Texas, Tracy Epting and wife Charlotte of Runaway Bay, Texas, daughter Tammy Epting Eppler of Denton, Texas, her sister Betty Beckham of Schertz, Texas and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Lois was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
