Lloyd Konrad joined his Heavenly Father on January 2nd, 2010. Born on a dairy farm in Richfield, Wisconsin, Lloyd grew to love animals and the outdoors. Wanting to see more of the world beyond the farm he earned his accounting degree from Spencerian College and planned to join the corporate world. Lloyd enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII and trained as a radio operator. He received admission to Officer Training Academy. While in training he contracted Rheumatic Fever and was hospitalized for six months. He was given a medical discharge and rejoined the corporate sector. While working at Kiekhaefer Marine Lloyd met his wife, Marian Yass. They married on September 28, 1946. Lloyd was a devoted husband and dedicated family man. His first daughter, Jean, was born in 1950 followed by Karen in 1954. By the 1950's Lloyd had worked himself into a management position with Walker Mufflers in Racine, Wisconsin. During his career he often served as an officer of the National Purchasing Association. He was nationally recognized for his business acumen in an article that appeared on the front page of the Wall Street Journal in 1977. He remained with Walker/Tenneco for thirty years finally serving as the Vice President of Purchasing for Tenneco. He also was named President of Grand Safeguard Automotive. Outside of corporate work he volunteered his management services by serving on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, the Kiwanis Club, Gideon Bible Association, Moody Bible Association and the Evangelical Child and Family Agency. A strong man of faith, he belonged to Bible study groups wherever he communed and also served as Church President on several occasions as well as Sunday School Superintendent.

Lloyd was an automobile and racing enthusiast. From his first car, a Whippet, to owning a Kaiser-Frasier dealership to later collecting cars-such as the last Lincoln convertible to roll off the assembly line, he relished all facets of the automobile industry. In addition he loved to travel, being one of the first to use commercial flights for business to later being the one of the last passengers to travel via the Concorde and the QEII. Over the years, Lloyd and Marian travelled numerous occasions to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, South Africa and Ireland. They often enjoyed these adventures with family and friends.

Lloyd and Marian moved over twenty times while working with Tenneco. He retired in 1982 and moved to Flower Mound Texas in 1998. Lloyd treasured spending time with family. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his thoughtfulness and wit. He always showed interest and concern for those around him by taking time to care or offer assistance and he would continually lift others up to God in prayer.

Lloyd leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Marian, their two daughters; Jean Wells and her husband Jim Wells of Milford, Michigan and Karen Fredericks and her husband Steve Fredericks of Flower Mound, his grandchildren; Matt Cox, Jennifer Williams, Andrew Fredericks, Nathan Fredericks and Aaron Fredericks and his great grandchildren; Kiele, Kari, Kreston and Keira Williams and Jade Cox. He is survived by his sister Marion Schoenbeck of West Bend, Wisconsin. Lloyd was preceded in death by his sister Viola Bast and his parents; Georg and Emily Konrad.

There will be a viewing at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7-9p.m. Services will be Thursday at 2p.m. at Living Hope Church. The internment will follow at Flower Mound cemetery. Friends and family are then invited to gather at Abiding Peace church for a reception.
