Obituary

Linda Sims, 79, passed away January 6, 2019 after a short illness of natural causes surrounded by her family at home. Linda was born and raised in Denton, TX and graduated from Denton High School. Linda ran with her pack of girlfriends and hot-rodded many cars supplied by her Father and hung out at Lane's drive-in. She participated in all school activities where they would have her and would try out for everything. Linda was born August 20, 1939 to Raymond and Lorene Spalding (Lynch) and grew up on Panhandle Street. Raymond was a car dealer and always supplied her with a wide range of interesting cars, there are too many stories there.

Linda began working as a Medical Records Transcriptionists while she was still in High School and went on to become Director of Medical Records for Flow Memorial Hospital in Denton.  She married Louie Sims in 1969 and they raised four children.  They traveled the U.S. with Louie's career in Galveston, Jacksonville, FL, Jamestown, NY, Austin, TX, Kansas City, Mo, Lincoln, NE. During this time Linda held many interesting jobs as a Medical Secretary to the Head of Neurosurgery at UTMB in Galveston and Secretary to the Administrator and Chief of Staff at Nemours Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. They moved back home to Denton in 2001 and lived at Robson Ranch for 17 years. Along the way Linda learned to play golf and tennis with Lou and played in the women's golf leagues at all their stops.

Linda made many good friends at all the places they lived particularly in Kansas City (her favorite town) and Lincoln, Nebraska. She was an avid Chiefs fan and season ticket holder for 15 years. She was always a football fan and she and Lou dated by going to Broncos football games on Friday night. Her Father and Uncle Harve Gray would drive them to out of town games no matter what the weather.

Linda was kind and gracious to everyone she met and had the highest integrity and honesty. She loved to dance and she and Lou would often go dancing on Friday and Saturday nights (when there wasn't a football game, kid's softball, baseball, soccer or other of the kids' activities)

Linda was a great Mother to their children and lived a fun and adventurous life. She loved to go on Cruises through the Panama Canal and many other places because Lou couldn't have a phone. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Louie Sims, Daughters Susan of Carrollton and Sharon of Denton, sons Michael of Temple, TX and Randall of Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her Father Raymond Spalding and Mother Lorene Spalding (lynch), Grandfather and Grandmother Burt "Boot" Spalding and Mary Jo Spalding of the Michigan Spaldings, Meredith Lynch and Eula Mae Lynch, Aunt Lola Gray and Uncle Harve Gray and many aunts and uncles on the Lynch side of the Family and many of her old Denton Broncos friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Dallas Ft.
