Lillie Belle Owens, 97, of Aubrey, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Denton Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 1, 1917 in the Mustang Community, Denton County, TX to Ollie Burton and Mattie Lee (Collins) Darnell. She was married to Richard Taylor (R. T.) Owens in Denton on October 28, 1935, and he passed away on December 1, 2004. She was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Krugerville.
Mrs. Owens is survived by daughters, Shirley Barrett of Chandler, AZ, Patricia Ann Creglow and husband Fred of Aubrey, Linda Hammett and husband Gary of Aubrey; sons, Charles C. "Buddy" Owens and wife Evalois of Aubrey, Gary Lee Owens and wife Pearl of Denton, Ronald Wayne Owens and wife Bonnie of Aubrey, Joe Taylor Owens and wife Sharlotte of Aubrey, Roger Dale Owens and wife Diana of Aubrey, Michael Ray Owens and wife Paula of Denton; brother, Floyd Darnell of Denton; thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; thirty-seven great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter, Dorothy Bothwell; granddaughter, Lillian Joy Stanford; grandsons, Richard (Ricky) Bothwell, and Darin Owens; one brother and three sisters.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Gateway Baptist Church, 2401 N. Bell Ave., Denton followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Gateway Baptist Church, with Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating. Burial will follow in the Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.
