Leland James Turnipseed, 70 of Era, TX passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.  He was born March 1, 1946 in McAlester, OK to Roy Arthur Turnipseed and Francis Lucille (Parsons) Turnipseed.
He was in the Navy for 4 years and attained the rate of a Radioman 2 ^nd class and was a Vietnam vet. He graduated from Tulsa University in 1975 with a BS degree in marketing.  He was employed for 13 years, first as a sales rep in Tulsa and then as a Terminal Manager in Muskogee, OK, and a luxury home builder in Denton, TX, for 13 years until he retired in 2009.  He lived out his retirement in the country enjoying his children and grandchildren.
Leland is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy (Silva) Turnipseed of Era, TX. Daughters Valerie Shropshire, husband Brent and kids Katelyn, Ryan & Dillon of McKinney, TX, Vickee Slider, husband Justin and kids Jack and Jake of Era, TX and Charlene Stone, husband Shawn and kids Catherine and Audrey Khoury. Sons, Leland Matthew Turnipseed of Denton, TX and Quinnton Turnipseed, girlfriend April Carlson and kids Landon Turnipseed, Caleb and Kaley Carlson of Denton, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lucille Turnipseed.
A memorial service will be held at Mulkey-Mason in Denton, TX, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016.
