Lela Cleo Beddingfield was born on May 28, 1930, in Big Spring, Texas. After dedicating her life to nurturing her family and serving the Lord, she peacefully passed away on February 4, 2026, in Flower Mound, Texas, surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lela Norman, her dear husband Jack of 71 years, and her siblings, Ivie, Rosalie, and her twin brother, Leo.
She is survived by her son Mark and daughter-in-law Anne, daughter Brenda, six grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cleo, as she was affectionately known, excelled in her role as a homemaker, where she took great pride in the comfort and happiness of her family. Her commitment extended beyond the walls of her home as she actively participated in various programs in her community and church. She was the President of the Ladies Auxillary of the Purple Heart and also played other significant roles in organizations, where her nurturing spirit and dedication inspired many.
Cleo lived a life grounded in devotion to God. Her faith was demonstrated through prayer, daily Bible reading, and many gifts of service and generosity. She trusted God fully, even in difficult seasons, her steadfast belief gave her a deep sense of peace and purpose that never wavered. Her life stands as a testimony of faith, loyalty, and trust that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She immersed herself in many hobbies including sewing, bowling, cooking, baking, exercising and gardening. She loved playing table games, often creating cherished memories around the table with family and friends. These pursuits not only kept her active, but also reflected her vibrant and sociable nature. Cleo had a fondness for music and entertainment, particularly enjoying polka shows as well as various musical performances that she found in the communities where she lived.
Cleo’s legacy is not merely in the stories she leaves behind, but in the profound love and unwavering support she offered to her family. As a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her greatest accomplishments revolved around the extraordinary act of loving those closest to her. She prayed for each family member daily by name.
As we remember Lela Cleo Beddingfield, let us celebrate her enduring spirit and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and infectious zest for life. She will be missed dearly, yet her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known her.
A service honoring Cleo will be held at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton, on Monday, February 23 at 2pm.
