Lawrence Lee Miller passed from this earth to his heavenly home on September 2, 2026. He is survived by the love of his life, Linda Kay. They were married 59 years. They had two children Larry Glen Miller, and his wife DeLynn, of Aubrey, Texas and Latisha Ann Black of Denton, Texas. Four Grandchildren, Tiffani Fisher and her husband Eric, Collin Miller and his fiancée Mel Brianne Chan, Tyler Parker Black, and Ashleigh Katherine Black. Two Great Grandchildren, Deiontae and Kairo, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Alice Miller of Denton and his sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Darrell Strong of Garland. His in-laws Mildred and Leon Griffith of Denton, brother-in-laws Bobby Lee Griffith of Granbury, James Richard Griffith of Aubrey, and Evan Leon Griffith Jr of Charleston, N.C..

Lawrence’s family lived in Aubrey when he was a young boy. They farmed cotton and peanuts, raised their own vegetables in their garden. They drew water from a well and carried it to the house until the family was able to acquire electricity. Lawrence started school at the age of five. At age nine the family moved into Denton where Lawrence entered the fifth grade.

Following high school graduation, Lawrence enrolled at North Texas State University in 1956 and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1960. Following graduation he entered the United States Navy when he proudly served our country from 1960 to 1966.

In 1966 he went to work for Victor Equipment Company and remained there until he retired in 2001. He served at his beloved Gateway United Baptist Church where he was a member of the Gateway Band. His dear friend Weldon Miller taught him to play the guitar at the age of 70 and he loved to play hymns and country music. The band played for Sunday services and even went to Nursing homes to play for the residents. His love for Jesus never failed to shine whatever he did. He cared for his family with selflessness and love daily.

Lawrence lost a three year battle with dementia on Wednesday. Even in his final days he would always tell us all that he loved us. He will be missed by friends and family alike. When Jesus called his name, he was prepared to depart this world for the next. He knew his Bible well and understood that heaven was a place of healing and eternal peace, for all of us who wait for Jesus to call our names. We believe that this world is not our home but a place to learn more about the Jesus and how to serve Him!

The family wishes to thank Reliant Hospice and Visiting Angels for the wonderful care they gave Lawrence throughout his illness. We also want to give a special thanks to our church family for their love, support, and prayers.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 5th at 3 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at 4p.m. at Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 N Bell Avenue, Denton, Texas 76209. Burial will be next week at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
