Lawrence Edward 'Larry' Dews, 77 of Denton, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.
He was born October 11, 1929 in Mt. Holly, Arkansas to Junius Beverly and Mary Magdalene (Miller) Dews. Larry was in the U. S. Naval Reserve; and before retiring to Denton, he was Plant Mgr. for 22 years for D. D. Williamson and Co. in Louisville, KY.
He was married to Lynn Hardesty, on November 18, 1967 at the First Baptist Church, Dallas. This year they celebrated 39 years of marriage. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denton. Larry loved his church and enjoyed many senior trips with his wife and church friends. He was also an avid sports fan. Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed greatly.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 6,. The Rev. Cliff Feeler, minister to Senior Adults, First Baptist Church will officiate Following the service, interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday for visitation Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assn. of Texas, National Processing Center, P. O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8000 or charity of choice.
Mr. Dews is survived by his wife Lynn of Denton, two sons, Larry Steven Dews of Garland, TX and Lynn Edward Dews, of Killeen, TX; sister, Lavon Davis, of El Dorado, AR; brothers, Jack Dews of Camden, AR and Joseph (Joe) Dews, of Spearsville, LA; and four grandchildren; Wade, Jennifer, Eric, and Coryanne Dews; one great grandson, Dalton Dews; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorene Watson.
