Obituary

Lavonia Jo Prewitt, 92 on February 14, 2010 went to her eternal rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on June 15, 1917 to Andrew and Lorean Hall Faught in the Justin and Argyle Community. She was the first of five children born to this marriage and the last remaining. Jo married Harold Prewitt on October 27, 1935. She was truly a Proverbs 31 wife. She loved and cared deeply for her husband, Her children call her blessed. Three children were born of this union, Jo Harold Prewitt, Douglas Prewitt, and Carroll Prewitt Wallace. Beside being an outstanding wife and mother, Jo had a varied working career. At one time she was employed by the Denton Record Chronicle, The City of Denton, TWU, and UNT. She retired from UNT in 1981 to enjoy a life of gardening, playing with grandchildren and teaching Sunday school. Jo moved to Good Samaritan retirement center in 2002 where she spent restful years of reading and fellowship with friends. The last 6 months, she made her home in Richardson with her daughter. Now the last move is made, she is now at home with the Lord. Her local church fellowship for many years has been Cooper Creek Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, with Dr. Richard Montgomery, Officiating, Burial will follow in the Prairie Mound Cemetery at Argyle. The family will be at the funeral for visitation on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 for visitation from 6 P. M. The family would ask in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Cooper Creek Baptist Church, 4582 Fishtrap Road, Denton, TX 76208.

Jo is survived by her three children, Jo Harold Prewitt and wife Edna; Carol Wallace and husband Pat, and Douglas Prewitt, 13 Grandchildren,. 35 Great Grandchildren and 11 great great Grandchildren. Her husband Harold, preceded her in death in January, 1993, and her daughter-in-law, Kay Prewitt in 2007.
