LaVerne Odom, 84, of Denton, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Denton.
Mrs. Odom was born on January 2, 1931 in Sanger to Clarence and Velma (Brewer) Masten. She was married to E. Dale Odom on January 2, 1949 in Gainesville. She was a member of the Denton County Historical Society and the First Baptist Church of Denton. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Band Booster Club. She worked for several years in the History Department of the University of North Texas; worked for the Denton Record Chronicle in the Archive Library and helped her husband edit his book, An Illustrated History of Denton County, Texas. She was very involved with her family and they revered her as being a great cook and an excellent hostess.
Mrs. Odom is survived by her husband, E. Dale Odom of Denton; daughter, Suzanne Koroly and her husband Jeff of Denton; son, Dan Odom of Denton; brothers, Donald Masten and his wife Linda of Sanger, Larry Masten and his wife Sue of Sanger; four grandchildren, Devin Reynolds and his wife Kelly of Seattle, WA, Brooke Reynolds of Mesquite, Lane Koroly of Denton, Miles Koroly of Denton; great-grandchildren, Presley Eubanks, Kaden Reynolds, Logan Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Odom and brother, Forest Gene Masten.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, May 2, 2015 at The Vintage, 205 N. Bonnie Brae, Denton.
