IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry
Sharp
July 22, 1957 – September 6, 2018
Larry Sharp passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2018 while vacationing at his childhood home in Redondo Beach, CA at the age of 61.
Larry was born on July 22, 1957 in Dearborn, MI to Glen and Joan (Ellison) Sharp. At an early age his parents relocated to Arvada, CO for a short time before settling into their beach home in Redondo Beach, CA. Larry loved the water, was an avid surfer, active in all sports, varsity football and junior lifeguard programs. He graduated from South Torrance High School in 1975.
Drawing from his father's passion of the airline industry, Larry joined the American Airlines family in 1980 and is a proud "10" AirCal member. Larry was faithful and devoted to AA, holding a vast array of positions spanning his 38-year career. Beginning with Ramp Services and Crew Chief positions in LA and Salt Lake City, he transferred to DFW where he held positions in Management Education and Training, HR Advisory, HR Investigations, HR Specialist and in 2015 promoted to HR Manager at DFW Airport. Larry adored his American Airlines family and his friendship and grace throughout his career touched and impacted hundreds of lives; a huge honor his family holds dear.
Larry cherished living in the country and had a passion for outdoor adventure and travel. In 2001, he met his true love, Carolyn Cash, and they married on October 23, 2004 at a lakeside ceremony on Lake Ray Roberts. He loved nothing more than fishing for crappie with his bride, his vegetable garden and exploring the world with his soul mate. Self-taught in woodworking, he loved spending evenings and weekends in "The Shop" making sawdust and crafting wood designs. And of course, the never-ending list of "projects".
Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Valley View, TX. His sister, Terri and husband David Whetstone of Santa Rosa, CA. His two daughters and precious grandson, all of Herriman, UT; Katie and husband Ben Smith; Bridgette and Curtis Turner and their son, Zayne James Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial tribute and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2pm at the Denton Patterson – Appleton Arts Center, 400 E. Hickory, Denton, TX 76201. Rev. Cheryl Murphy, Senior Pastor of Waples United Methodist Church, Denison TX will be leading the service.
