Larry Manning

Larry Manning was born October 31, 1931, in Leonard, TX to Paul and Nadine Manning.  He grew up on a farm in the community of Pyke.  He graduated from Leonard High School in 1949.

After graduation, Larry spent some time working in West Texas and California.  He finally settled down by going to work for his uncle in Brownwood.  On February 6, 1954, he and Beth Tucker were married at the First Baptist Church in Leonard.  He and Beth would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary next week.

To this union were born three children, Dianne, David, and Donald.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Paul Sr and Nadine, brother, Paul Jr, and a son, David.

In 1964, the Manning family moved to Denton.  Larry began working for Jagoe Public Construction as a foreman.  Later he formed his own paving company. Many of the streets in Denton were paved by him.  Later Larry bought land in Nocona, TX and had a cattle business. Later he and a partner bought land in Krum and started a subdivision for new homes.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, reading, church and fellowship with friends and family.

Larry was a member at Gateway United Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife Beth, daughter Dianne (Paul) White, son Donald (Suzanne) and daughter-in-law Joy (David) Manning.

Grandchildren include Mollie (Damian) Torres, Madeline (Larry) Jones, Macy (Jared) Robinson, McKenzie (Parker) Reaume, Michael (Neily) Manning, Maddox Manning, McCade Manning, Brooke (Mike) Roth, Blake (Whitney) Manning, Jody (Bethany) White, Jacob White, Tommy (Brandy) White and Mystie (Damian) Hartpence.

Great grandchildren include Peyton and Preslee White, Truett, Everly and Juliet Jones, Sebastian Torres, Alice Reaume, Selah Robinson and Waylon and Aidan White.

Larry went to his heavenly home on Sunday January 28, 2024, where he was greeted by a crowd of friends who welcomed him with open arms.

His life will be celebrated Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 N. Bell Avenue, Denton at 2pm.  Visitation will be at 1pm.  He will be laid to rest at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
