Larry Ellis, age 55, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family, after his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 1, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to Samuel Ernest Ellis and Mary Alice Bennett Ellis. Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville and served as a Lewisville Police Officer for 30 years. He was a member of the Lewisville Police Swat Team, was a field training officer and was active in the Adopt a Cop program. Larry was also active in the Make A Wish Foundation. He married Karol Buchanan on July 30, 1999.

Larry is survived by his wife, Karol; children, Jennifer Wolfe, Douglas Brown, Emily Hasten, Cole Ellis, Nolan Ellis, Malisa Buchanan and Justin Buchanan; mother, Mary Ellis; grandchildren, McKane and Kaylor Wolfe, Evan and Owen Brown, Jack and John Hasten; sister, Kay Cason and brothers, Ernest Ellis and Kent Ellis. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Stephen Ellis.

Funeral service will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Lewisville.
