Obituary

Kenneth Earle McNeill of Denton, Texas passed away on December 13, 2012 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. He was born October 13, in Columbia, South Carolina to Kenneth Earl McNeill and Lillian Wallace. Ken spent his youth learning to fly fish on the lakes and streams in Columbia, South Carolina and East Texas. He also enjoyed hunting for quail and playing baseball. He attended East Texas State College until joining the U.S. Navy, serving from 1951-1955. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Texas and graduated with a BSME in 1958. Ken married Earldene Miller in 1952 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 27, 2012.

He worked for LTV and Texas Instruments in Dallas before establishing Ken McNeill Construction . He built many quality homes and commercial buildings in Denton County between 1983 and 1995 when he retired.

Kenneth was an active member and deacon at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Ken was faithful to numerous missions in the church including The Children's Place Board and Buildings and Ground Committee.

He was an accomplished watercolorist, his favorite subjects being the Cornish Coast, Oregon Waterways and America's rural landscapes. Kenneth touched the lives of many during his life. He was a beloved parent, husband, friend, mentor, companion and philosopher. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Earldene McNeill of Denton, daughter Barbara Brierton and husband Jack of Denton, son Kevin McNeill and wife Sharon of Bend, Oregon. Grandchildren are Lillian McNeill, Jordan McNeill, Greg Brierton, Julie Bryant and husband Will and great-grandchildren Preston and Lilly Grace Bryant.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on December 20, 2012 at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak, Denton, Texas 76201. Reverand Steve Plunkett, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund.
