IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Keith Lester
Spencer
September 25, 1960 – October 26, 2020
Keith Lester Spencer was born and raised in Denton, Texas. He was proud of his family's history in Denton where he graduated from Denton High School. During those years he was intensely interested in Dungeons and Dragons. Keith attended college at University of North Texas.
He worked odd jobs, eventually settling into the life of a truck driver. But it was a lonely life with no one to come home to. Later, he gained employment delivering flowers for Linwood Alford. He loved bringing joy and beauty into the lives of those receiving the flowers. He learned the names of every blossom, and could tell you the species and genus of every plant.
Keith was a great intellect – a strategist who could beat you at Risk, Trivial Pursuit and Scattergories. His enduring passion was history. He knew about rulers, kingdoms and societies going all the way back to the ancients. He knew every U.S. President and Vice President and their platforms. Sandra and Keith enjoyed watching the History Channel together, with long pauses in the video play, so that Sandra could ask Keith to expand on the content.
Keith enjoyed shooting and was an excellent marksman. He also excelled at darts and competed in local and regional contests. In competition he met Brent LaGrone, whom he treasured as a brother.
Keith and Sandra Taylor met online and had their first date on April 15, 2007 – playing darts. The first things that drew Sandra to Keith were his kind, generous nature, his keen wit – and his legs! They were married June 7, 2008. Keith soon settled back into trucking, driving for Y.R.C Freight.
Keith was very devoted to his mother, Peggy Burch Spencer, who fought Sarcoma cancer for nearly five years. Sandra and Keith fought with her, caring for her every step of the way.
Keith Spencer is preceded in death by his mother and his father, Lester Earl Spencer. He leaves behind his wife Sandra, two children, Shaunna Conaway and Logan Sadowski and a brother, Steve Spencer. He is also mourned by his in-laws, Jay Taylor and Catherine Jewell; Donald and Tracy Taylor as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous other relatives.
Keith Spencer was ill for just 16 days. He had just celebrated his 60 th birthday. May he be received with open arms by our loving Lord. May his family and friends heal from this great loss.
