Obituary

Keith H. Carpenter

April 23, 1929 - December 3rd, 2022

Keith Herbert Carpenter, 93, recently of Frisco, Texas, passed away on December 3rd, 2022. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Evelyn, his father Albert T. Carpenter, mother

Muriel Haas Carpenter, brother Bruce Carpenter and sister-in-law Barbara. He is survived by his brother Grant Carpenter, sister-in-law Trudy, daughter Gayle C Scott, son Elliott K Carpenter, daughter-in-law Jennifer L Carpenter, daughter Jane C Brunet, son-in-law Robert E Brunat, grandson Kevin A Carpenter and his wife, Shelby M Carpenter.

Keith spent his childhood in the northern and western suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Newton High School and an additional year of prep school at Hebron Academy, a private school in Maine. After graduating from Tufts University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Keith served a year in the national guard and two years in the Navy on the USS Instill, ending with an honorable discharge as a Lieutenant JG. During his military service he was introduced to (Mary) Evelyn Plyer of Kershaw, South Carolina on a blind date in Charleston. The couple wed on October 19, 1952.

Keith began his professional career in engineering at United Shoe Machinery in Boston Mass. He joined General Motors in Rochester, N.Y. in 1960. Five years later, Keith was transferred to the Delco Products Division of General Motors in Kettering, Ohio. During his tenure with General Motors Keith served in various engineering management roles, and Keith was credited with 31 United States patents - a professional feat of which he was most proud.

Keith and Evelyn retired to Hilton Head, South Carolina in August 1992. They both thoroughly enjoyed Hilton Head as family and friends would often come to visit. Retirement afforded Keith the

opportunity to indulge in his life-long passion for bridge. His 80+ years of experience helped him to

achieve the rank of Gold Life Master, an American Contract Bridge Ranking. Always modest, he joked that this ranking and $1.50 would get him a cup of coffee.

Keith spent most of his life as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Enough cannot be said of his love for his wife and family. He was much loved, and his humor and warmth will be truly missed.

The family welcomes donations to the SPCA of Texas (spca.org ) and Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research

Foundation (alzinfo.org) as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
