Kathy Work, 56, of Denton, died Sunday October 5, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Mrs. Work was born on November 24, 1957 in Brownsville, TX to Racy Bascom Stimpson, Jr. and Sarah Jane (Andrews) Stimpson. She was married to Wayne Work on July 4, 1992 in Denton.
Growing up she always made friends wherever she was, including all manner of animals such as skunks, raccoons, squirrels, horses, dogs, cats and even one great horned owl. She was skilled with doing and creating things with her hands. Her personality was outgoing, and she displayed a friendly, happy disposition at most times, even when in the hospital this last year and a half. She made friends even then, she called them "her people". She worked for eight years at the Andrews Corporation as a welder making many friends; some of those friendships were long-lasting. She stopped working at Andrews Corporation to have more time for her growing son, Scotty and she began to clean houses with her sister, Sherrie; eventually gaining her own houses to clean in the Southlake area and later in Denton. All of her customers became her friends. She enjoyed doing for others and most especially when her work was appreciated and treated as an equal to them.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Work of Denton; son, Scotty Ray Spain and his wife Kimberly of Corinth; mother, Sarah Jane Imbert; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Walker and her husband Virgil of Haughton, LA, Sherrie June Taylor and her husband Steve of North Richland Hills; brother, William Michael Stimpson and his wife Pam of Houston; ten grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, October 10, 2014 in the chapel of Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
