Kathleen Forman passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Kathleen Brown Forman was born on November 1, 1926 in Decatur, Texas, the only child of Elbert (Cap) and Alma Christian Brown.
She graduated from Decatur High School in 1943 and from Baylor University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Kathleen married Ray Hugh Forman, Jr. October 27, 1951. They were married for 47 years before his passing in 1999. Ray and Kathleen had two children, Elbert Ray and Ann. Ray and Kathleen raised their children in Decatur before moving to Slidell in 1976. They enjoyed many years in the country before their final move to Good Samaritan Village.
Kathleen was active in her church, First United Methodist in Decatur and the Senior Bible Study at Denton Bible Church. She also enjoyed visiting the family land near Slidell, TX, where young and old alike would gather for hunting, fishing, camping, grilling, and fellowship. Together with several close friends, she was an active member of the unofficial P.O.W. (Poor Old Widows) Club, with whom she celebrated life's little pleasures.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Elbert Forman and wife Cheri, her daughter Ann Swingler and husband Jack and four grandchildren: Kimberly Wolfe (Thomas), Lauren Cortez (Felipe), Otto Swingler and John Henry Swingler. The newest additions to her family, her great-grandchildren Jocelyn and Logan Cortez and Genevieve and Jillian Wolfe, were her greatest joy
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30 at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Denton, TX from 6:00-8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 31 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur, TX at 10:00 am with Brian Bosworth of Decatur's First United Methodist Church officiating. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 31 in the chapel of Denton Bible Church at 2:00 pm, with Ed Jones officiating.
