Katherine Jones King Whittle passed away Wednesday, February 4,2009.  Katherine was born March 27th, 1923 in Pelahatchie, MS to Charles Bruce and Katherine Louise (Barrow) Jones.  She was the 10th of 12 children and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings as well as her first husband Leon King, son, James Randolph King, and her second husband, G. B. Whittle.

An avid reader and lifelong educator, Katherine shared her passion for both with her children.  Even as a struggling young mother, she tirelessly provided opportunities for enrichment, and endless supply of books and years of music lessons for her children.  A strong and resilient woman, Katherine exemplified a strong work ethic, deep compassion and forgiveness, and a constant sense of humor.

Through commitment to education and love of music were priorities in her life, nothing was more important to Katherine than her love and devotion to Jesus Christ.  Sharing this faith with her children and grandchildren and teaching them to love the Lord was undoubtedly her greatest delight.

Loved and missed by all, her family rests in the knowledge that Mama K is now rejoicing at the throne of God.  She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Darling and husband Charles, Kaki Matheson and husband Jim, Cheri Forman and husband Elbert, and Lori Wilson and husband Ben,  12 grandchildren, 3  great grandchildren, and longtime family friend David Dixon and wife Susie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 9, 2009 in the Chapel of Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr.,  Denton, with Charles Darling, Jr.  officiating.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009   at the Tyler Memorial Park, in Tyler, TX   A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Monday, February 9, 2009.  Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home,  705 N.
