Karen Ann Thorson, 60, passed away on March 31, 2026.

Karen was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and spent most of her life in Dallas and Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of North Texas and the University of Texas Health and Science Center with a master’s degree in nursing. Karen worked as a nurse practitioner for many years and was known for providing compassionate and exceptional care to homebound patients.

Despite being raised Catholic, Karen dedicated her time and care in order to raise her kids in the Jewish faith. Throughout their childhood, Karen was an active member of their synagogue Congregation Beth Israel. She was known for her charisma and good sense of humor, and had one of those faces that prompted even grocery store cashiers to strike up a conversation with her.

Karen loved reading on the beach, country music, mashed potatoes, reality TV, dogs, cooking, family traditions, and most of all her kids.

Karen is survived by her children, Jacob and Eliza and daughter-in-law Ani; her siblings, Tim, Todd, and Kim; and her 7 nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her father Jeff and her mother Kathleen. Private funeral services will be held for the family.
