In Loving Memory of Kandy Kay Stein
Kandy (Grove) Stein, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 28, 1959, to proud parents Arnold Grove, Sr. and Phyllis (Worthy) Grove.
Kandy grew up in Laingsburg, Michigan, where she spent her days playing card games with family, horsing around with her siblings on the family farm, and participating in 4-H; both in the sewing club and showing animals. She graduated from Laingsburg High School in 1985 alongside her sister, Melody.
As a young woman, Kandy married Christopher Yelinek and their journeys moved them to Texas which became her forever home. During their many years together, they shared a love for NASCAR racing, weekend drag races and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed crocheting, crafting and a good cookout with friends and family.
Later, Kandy met Ron Stein, whom she would marry and spend the rest of her life with. He was the love of her life, and together they shared a relationship filled with kindness, laughter, casino trips, and deep love.
Kandy especially loved finding a good bargain—particularly if it was “only a dollar.” And she’d drive quite the distance to discover new thrift or antique stores, always on the lookout for M&M and Coca-Cola collectibles.
A lifelong cat lover, Kandy’s fur babies became her world. She delighted in watching them play with their many toys while she relaxed with episodes of The Golden Girls.
Kandy is survived by her husband Ron Stein, her four children Stacy (Mike) Downer, Andrea (Sean) Magers, CJ Yelinek, Michael Yelinek; her six grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, father Arnold Grove, Sr., sister Melody (Tim) Arnst, and sister-in-law Cindy Grove.
She was preceded in death by her mom Phyllis (Worthy) Grove, stepmom Kay (Wing) Grove, brothers Rex Grove and Arnold Grove Jr, sister Tina (Grove) Austin and brother-in-law Kenny Austin.
Kandy leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with those who loved her most. Her laughter, bright smile, generous heart and the joy she found in the simple things in life, will continue to live on in their hearts.
Her life will be celebrated with friends and family in both Michigan and Texas this summer with dates to be determined.
