Obituary

Julia Elizabeth Barineau, born July 10, 1940 in Dallas Texas. Physically left us on May 21st 2024 at the ever young age of 83. A lifelong proud Texan she resided in Granbury, TX for the last 22 years. Affectionately known as "Doodle" to her friends and lovingly as "Mom/Mimaw/Memaw/Mimaw the Great" to her family. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson HS Class of 1958. Eloped with Leland (Lee) R. Barineau Jr. on May 3rd 1958 and spent 45 years together building the family that is left to celebrate them.

Julia's interests famously included Walmart shopping, walking the square in Granbury, her beloved pets and most importantly of course, focusing on her family. She loved hearing the latest accomplishments and funny stories involving the grandkids and great grandkids. No family gathering was complete till she took her photos and played "wavey" from the driveway. Always the fun and very funny lady, she spent her life in laughter and smiles including her final day in which she drew out laughter from attending family who surrounded her as she readily departed. And as was her trait no matter the event, she left ready and prepared for the journey.

Survivors include the luckiest two kids ever. Her daughter Debbi Gomez and her husband Cecil. Her son Bill Barineau and his wife Stephanie. Grandkids Melissa Powell, Cody Smith, Nicole Gomez, Cory Barineau and Courtney Barineau and all their spouses that she adored as if they were her own children. Also her all-time favorites, the great grandkids, Cooper Powell Cole Rios, Emberly Barineau and Indie Barineau. Also survived by her beloved brother Joe D. Hall, several nephews and a niece.

A celebration of her life and her love will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 29th at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually and also note that her favorite color was red and she LOVED patriotic themed clothing. This time of year always found her in Red/White and Blue so please feel free to express and quote her final words, when it was mentioned that we'd had some great parties together "And don't you ever forget it !"
