Judy Kay Rutledge Evans, 73, a longtime resident of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday April 1, 2018 at The Village Memory Care Center in Denton, Texas with family by her side.
Judy was born on July 31, 1944 in Childress, TX, the daughter of Wilmer R. Rutledge and Frances Pearl Griffith Rutledge. She attended Childress High School where she was head cheerleader for three years and valedictorian of her graduating class in 1962.
Judy taught International Friends for many years through Grace Temple Baptist in Denton. There she formed many sweet lifelong friendships. From 1985 through July of 2010 she served as secretary for Denton Bible Church and also served as a member.
Judy loved serving Jesus, the church body, and the community. She loved the beach, country western dancing, foods from around the world and loving on people. She never knew a stranger. Her family feels blessed to have had her and firmly believes she is whole, healed and in the presence of Jesus.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Patty Bryan and Sissy Briley. She is survived by her two daughters Julie Evans of Justin, TX and Joy Patterson and her husband Calvin of Denton, one brother Thomas Rutledge and his wife Jeanette of Amarillo, two grandchildren, Cassie Fedchak and Austin Patterson, and three great grandchildren, twelve sweet sisters and brothers- in- law and twenty dear nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday April 9, 2018 in The Denton Bible Church Chapel with Rev. Tommy Nelson officiating. A visitation with refreshments and a slideshow will take place at the church beginning at 1:00 in the "Starting Point" area.
