Obituary

Joyce Saling, 95, passed away in the early morning hours of March 26, 2022, at Eagle Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Denton, Texas.  Joyce was born on September 23, 1926 to Charles Wesley and Elsie Jane (Carroll) Frady in Aubrey, Texas.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was married to Charles Lee Saling, Jr, from December 20, 1947 until his death on August 25, 2008.  They were married in the Little Chapel in the Woods in Denton.  She is survived by her son Wesley Lynn Saling and wife Keri of Denton, grandchildren Charles Wesley Saling and his wife Jacki of Denton, Jeremy Lynn Saling of Denton, Jacqueline Leigh Dunworth and husband Rodney of Denton; great grandson Peyton Dunworth of Branson, Missouri, great granddaughter Emma Dunworth of Denton, great granddaughter Riley Bowers of Aubrey and highly anticipated soon to be great grandson Lucas Saling of Denton; and a great great grandson Atlas Dunworth; along with a host of friends and loved ones.

Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Denton, was a member and Past Matron of Denton Chapter #259, O.E.S of Denton, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Graduating from public schools at an early age, Joyce went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women's University) and a master's degree from Texas Woman's University.  Education was a central part of Joyce's life as she went on to teach veterans that were returning from the second World War in Aubrey, Texas before becoming a second grade teacher at Robert E. Lee Elementary School in the central portion of Denton, Texas.  Following a lengthy tenure at Robert E. Lee Elementary, Joyce moved on to teach second grade at the newly completed Ginnings Elementary School in the northern portion of Denton. Continually seeking to advance her education and abilities within the educational field, Joyce left Ginnings Elementary to become a counselor at Sam Houston Elementary School, Newton Rayzor Elementary School and finally the junior counselor at Denton Senior High School.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the family plot in Belew Cemetery in Aubrey with the Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating.  Joyce's body will be available for viewing from 2-7 on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust Street, Denton, Texas 76201.  Members of the family will be available for visitation from 5-7 PM at this location.

The family suggests casual wear (no jackets, suits, etc) for your comfort unless you prefer otherwise.  Memorials in Joyce's name may be made to Good Samaritan Society - Hospice, 607 W.
