Joyce Ann Murphrey, 70, of Denton, died Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.

Mrs. Murphrey was born on November 8, 1949 in Denton to James Henry and Frankie Mae (Freeman) Cothran. She was married to Jimmy Lee Murphrey on November 23, 1979 in Denton; he died on February 9, 2011. She graduated from Denton High School in Cooke County Junior College and pursued a career as an LVN. She worked at Cross Timbers Care Center for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Denton.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Crystal Orozco of Denton; sister, Shirley Cothran Barret of Peaster; grandchildren, J.D. Herrera, Sylvia Ann Herrera, Ethan Herrera; great-grandchildren, Arianna Ann Fielding, Jayden Herrera, Alizay Herrera. Vivianna James, Audree Herrera, D.J. James, Sincere Diore James.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 2, 2020 at Roselawn Memorial Park.
