IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josie Pearl
Nichol
December 23, 1917 – July 26, 2021
Josie Pearl "Nannie" Nichol of Denton, TX passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on July 26, 2021 at Pecan Tree Rehab and Healthcare Center in Gainesville, TX.
Pearl and her twin brother Earl were born at the "home place" in Aubrey, TX on December 23, 1917 to Wils L. and Nancy (Yarbrough) Jones. She often told stories of growing up on the farm. The work back then was hard but she often referred to her time there as "The good ole days".
Pearl married Walter G. Nichol, of Celina, TX, on September 17, 1937 in McAlester, OK. They were married for 55 years before his passing in 1993. They had two children, William "Butch" Nichol and Elizabeth "Libby" Dean.
Pearl and Walter both shared a love of gardening and growing their own vegetables. She was a homemaker until she decided to get her first job in her fifties serving lunches in the cafeteria at Congress Jr. High (Calhoun Middle School).
She loved yard work, spending time with family and friends, watching the Texas Rangers play baseball, and a good game of Yahtzee. She had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. Everyone loved listening to her stories and old time country sayings. She was kind, loving, and made everyone feel special.
She is survived by her son Butch Nichol, granddaughters Gayla Ford and her husband David, Jana Dean; great-grandson Seth Ford and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Nichol, daughter Elizabeth "Libby" Dean, daughter-in-law Charlene "Puggie" Nichol, her parents, sisters Verda Malone, Ida Mae Bond, Ruth Jones, and brothers Cecil "Dick" Jones, Guy Jones, Olen Jones, Roy Jones and Earl Jones.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Pecan Tree Rehab and Healthcare Center and to Ardent Hospice for the compassionate care shown during these last seven months. It is deeply appreciated
