Joseph Thelson (J. T.) Marek, age 92, of Lewisville passed away Jan. 10, 2007. He was born April 8, 1914 in Rosebud, TX to Albert and Minnie Marek. He grew up in Burlington and Perry, hitching 16 miles to attend High School in Marlin. After graduation J. T. worked at the family cotton gin in Perry. In 1939 he married Pat Marek and moved to Dallas in 1942 where J. T. joined the war effort working for Chance Vaught then for Texas Automatic Sprinkler in Dallas for 31 years until his retirement. J. T. is survived by Pat Marek, his wife of 67 years, daughter Diane Barfield and husband Danny of League City,sons,Joseph T. Marek II of Dallas, and Michael A. Marek of Carrollton; grandchildren Robert Barfield and wife Jennifer of Seabrook, Derek Barfield of Clear Lake Shores, and Emily Montgomery and husband Bill and children Sean and Kyle Montgomery of Louisville, KY. J. T. was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Marek. J. T. donated his time to St. Philip Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Meals on Wheels, Childrens' Immunization Program, Election Judge, RSVP, Red Cross, Friends of the Library, and United Way Fund. He was an avid hunter, bowler, fisherman and dancer. Polka and waltzing were his favorites to show his smooth steps into his late eighties. The family requests donations to the St. Philip Knights of Columbus Homeless Fund. Visitation 4-6 p.m. (Rosary 5:30) Sunday Jan. 14 at the Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Catholic Church, 1897 W. Main St. Lewisville on Monday Jan. 15 at 10:00 a.m.
