Johnsie Posey (89) from Flower Mound, TX, born October 14, 1919 and passed away on April 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie Lisle and Cordia Lockhart Steele and brother Billy Jack Steele of Mexia, Texas. Johnsie graduated from Mexia High School at the age of 14 in 1934 and earned her Bachelor's (1938) and Master's (1939) degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University and a Master's degree in Education from Tulane University. She was a lifelong educator, teaching high school in Kansas, San Diego, CA, Noodle TX, Kosse TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Abilene TX, and Mexia, TX. Her last 19 years teaching was as a professor of Mathematics at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Johnsie was longtime flower arrangement designer and judge and an eBay Power Seller. She was also an avid bridge player, starting a duplicate club for seniors in Flower Mound, TX with 2 tables at Mayflower Church, which went on to grow to additional tables at Pinewood Estates, and on to a great crowd at the Flower Mound Community Center. She taught many of the players how to make the transition from contract to duplicate bridge, keeping their minds active and increasing their playing skills. She participated in 4 different bridge clubs in Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Denton, TX for the last 4 years of her life. During the past few years, she traveled extensively to Alaska, Canada, Switzerland, Thailand, and Norway. She is survived by four sons, Liston Posey II, Lisle and Cari Posey of Pearl River, LA, John and Charlotte Posey of Mexia, TX, and B. J. and Becky Posey of Flower Mound, TX. She also is survived by 5 grandchildren, Chris, Shelley, Rebecca, Kaitlyn, Rachel, and Cara and 5 great grandchildren, Jacey, Lauren, Max, Connor, and Samantha. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 11th, from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Ln in Lewisville, TX and the Funeral Service at 1:30 PM Easter Sunday April 12th, also at Mulkey Mason. Burial will take place at 4:30 PM on Sunday at the Mexia City Cemetery in Mexia, Texas.
