Obituary

Johnny Jeter, Sr., age 59, of  Ponder, TX, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Denton, TX September 18, 1949, son to John and Barbara Jeter. He was an adored husband, and father o three boys. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter, explorer, and proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a right to bear arms advocate and a survivalist type.

Johnny was a local HVAC contractor, custom home builder and farmer. He was lead man, contractor, and/or the superintendent of the project. He worked latge commercial projects such as the seating in the Super Dome, and worked on numerous high rises in Dallas/Fort Worth. He was involved in the building of the Golden Triangle Mall and Emily Fowler Public Library of Denton. He built countless homes and was directly involved with numerous remodels in the Denton area. His knowledge and insight was appreciated by others in his field. His presence and candor will truly be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, companion, and high school sweetheart, Patricia Jeter of Ponder; oldest son, Johnny Jeter, Jr. of Ponder, son, Jay Jeter of Denton, youngest son, Jarrod and Necole Jeter of Denton; mother and stepfather, Barbara and John Pitner of Lindale, TX; father and stepmother, John and Vee Jeter of Denton; sister, Sharon Brown of Tyler, TX, sister, Ralyn and Gary Fletcher of Ponder, sister, Natalie and Steve Carter of Decatur; grandmother, Ovella Groening Melton of Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Denton; four granddaughters, Kristyn, Maranda, Kaleigh and Avery, and a multitude of family and friends.

A special thank you to Dr. Qasim, Dr. Rana, their indescribably wonderful staff, the nurses at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton, all of which treated him as family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the cancer Society.

A funeral service will be held at11:00 AM Wednesday January 28, 2009 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. Rev. Kim Broadstreet will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Corinth. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday January 27 at the funeral home.
