Johnnie Lois Yount, 87, of Denton, TX, died peacefully on August 21, 2018. She was born in Clarendon, TX and grew up in Pilot Point, TX. She married Bill Yount on February 5, 1948.
Johnnie was an optimist and had an open-minded flexibility. She had a great sense of humor and loved music, reading, writing, crocheting, sewing, and nature. She always said there was a song for everything, and often proved this by singing something humorously fitting to the situation. She possessed a warm spirit and her home was always welcoming and hospitable. Neither Johnnie nor Bill ever met a stranger.
Johnnie started out working for Pat Boone Country Inn but was dynamic as an administrative assistant for 50 years. She worked for Dr. Eberly, Dean of Music at Texas Woman's University, where she was responsible in part, for helping to start the Music Therapy Program. She also worked for Dr. H.E. Roberts, John Knox Good Samaritan Village, Denton State School, and Gateway United Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Rosalie Sloan; her husband, Bill Yount, and her son, Mike Yount. She is survived by Brenda Yount, wife of Mike; daughter, Anita Carty and her husband James; son, Steve Yount and his wife Karen; daughter, Karen Amberson and her husband Rob. She has 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on August 24, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 North Locust St., Denton, TX. A funeral service will be held on August 25, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 N. Bell Ave. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
