John David "Slick" Smith, Sr. 91 of Denton, went to sleep on earth and woke up in Heaven on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his home. He was born March 28, 1924 in Wirt, Oklahoma to Stacy Lee and Esmer Estelle (Dewbre) Smith. He was a graduate of Denton High school, a member of Central Baptist Church, and the Knights of Pythias. He was married to Mollie Louise Young on March 28, 1952 in Denton and preceded him in death on May 16, 2015. He served in the U S Coast Guard during World War II. He was the owner of 3-D Sales Company and Slick's Gulf Station.
Mr. Smith is survived by three daughters, Lecil Morgan and husband Jerry of Frisco, TX Karen Denson and husband J. D. of Colorado Springs, CO and Elizabeth Crews and husband Tim of Denton a daughter in law Sun Im Smith of of Tacoma, WA, Nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son John David Smith, Jr. and granddaughter Angela Crews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St. Denton, TX followed by a funeral service on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Shelton, and Rev. Grady Moore officiating.
