John Ray Jeanes, 90, of Denton, died Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Skyway Senior Care Home in Denton.

Mr. Jeanes was born on January 3, 1932 in Allen, TX to Charles L. and Esther Eva (Smith) Jeanes. He played football for Denton High School where he graduated in 1950 and joined the United States Air Force. He was married to Donna Kay Bledsoe on August 5, 1955 in Ralls, TX. He was a member of the Highland Baptist Church and retired after thirty years as a rural mail carrier.

John is survived by his wife Donna Kay Jeanes of Denton; daughter, Torey Lea Jeanes of Cat Spring; granddaughter, Jessica Leatherwood (Adam) of Frisco; great-grandchildren, Darian Leatherwood, Ashtyn Leatherwood, Paityn Leatherwood. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael "Mike" Jeanes.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 1, 2022 at Highland Baptist Church, 600 Thomas St., Denton. Interment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Argyle.
