John Thomas (J. T.) Harbert, Jr. 81, of Denton, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. He was born September 24, 1925 in Denton, to John T. and Clara Evalyn (McMurray) Harbert. He attended Denton Public Schools, and the University of North Texas. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II on the USS Cambria, he was a Marine geo-physicist for several oil exploration companies over his life time including, GSI, Halliburton, Texas Insturments and Hunt Exploration with Hunt Oil Co. J. T. was Knighted by the Queen of England for bravery in a rescue operation in the North Sea, thereby saving many passengers. He was a pioneer Ham Radio operator; he was an astronomer and a navigator.

Mr. Harbert is survived by a daughter, Lynn Fulks, of San Marcus, CA a Son, John Thomas Harbert, III, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, a sister Kenny Fawver, of Crowley, TX and a Grandson, John Dawson Harbert, of Rock Hill, S. C.
