IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Thomas
Crawford, Jr.
October 10, 1945 – March 11, 2025
John Thomas Crawford Jr. of Denton, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 10, 1945, in Fort Worth.
Growing up in the Fort Worth area, he shared fond memories of growing up on the farm and living a "carefree and rambunctious" life. He earned an Associate of Science degree from Cisco Junior College, a bachelor's degree in social science from Texas Wesleyan College, and later, a master's degree in special education from North Texas State University, now known as the University of North Texas.
While managing the Lewisville fishing barge, he met his wife, with whom he shared a love for traveling and spending time outdoors. He also dedicated over 38 years to serving as a public school teacher. In addition to his work in public schools, he spent much of his free time teaching English to international students at UNT, always eager to help others learn and grow.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, pursuits he continued right up until recently. He also had a deep appreciation for western books and Texas history, finding joy in the stories and heritage of the Lone Star State.
Above all, family was everything to him. He never missed a single school event for his children, family occasion, or a BBQ hangout.
Known for his humor and wisdom, he had a way of making those around him laugh while also offering thoughtful advice. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and a steady source of encouragement to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kate (Wan-Jen); and son John (Guo-Bin). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Katharine and John (Jack) Sr. and his sister, Mary.
